This high-impact fossil fish mural features two Diplomystus dentatus and a Phareodus testis, along with a Cockerellites liops and four Knightia eocaena. Dating to the Early Eocene, these approximately 50-million-year-old specimens were recovered from our private quarry in southwestern Wyoming.
The softly hued limestone matrix provides a warm, understated backdrop, allowing the deep coloration and fine detail of each fossil to stand out. All specimens originate from a stone layer we refer to as Fossil Lake Classic. This layer is part of the renowned 18-inch layer, celebrated for producing some of the highest-quality fossils from the Green River Formation.
The mural is finished with a handmade Wenge wood frame and is backed in wood with a built-in French cleat. This mural ships in a custom wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage. It arrives ready for immediate installation.
