This mural was quarried from a rare dark limestone layer unique to the Green River Stone quarry. We call the stone “Steel Blue” lake. It is a hard compact stone layer known for exceptional fossil preservation, dimension, and detail. The mural features an 18″, 6″, and a 5″ Diplomystus dentatus, a 14″ Mioplosus labracoides, and a 7″ and a 4-3/4″ Knightia eocaena. The age of the fossils is 50 million years old. It is supplied framed in a hand-made Wenge wood frame, backed in wood with a French cleat on the back for easy hanging.
