This horizontal fossil fish mural was quarried from our "Steel Blue Lake" stone layer. The stone surface has been honed flat to highlight the dark rich colors of the stone. The fossils include an 8" Priscacara serrata, a 6-1/4" Mioplosus labricoides, and a 6" Knightia eocaena. The fossils were prepared in shallow relief contrasting the flat surface of the stone. The fossil preservation in this mural is exceptional. The stone and fossils date to the Early Eocene, 50 million years ago. The mural is supplied framed in a hand-made Wenge wood frame. The stone is backed in wood with a hanging cleat applied.
