Description: This horizontal, irregularly shaped fossil fish mural was quarried from our "Fossil Lake" stone layer. The bright golden colors are the result of natural iron oxide in the stone. The fossils include a rare large 23-inch Notogoneus osculus, two Cockerellites liops measuring 4-1/2, and 5-1/2 inches, and three Knightia eocaena in sizes from 4-3/4 to 7 inches. The colors in this large, irregularly shaped fossil mural are bright and dynamic, as are the fossil fish. They include a rare 23-inch Notogoneus, two Cockerellites, and three Knightia, all of which are exceptionally well-preserved and detailed. The stone's bright golden colors are caused by the presence of natural iron oxide in the stone. These 50-million-year-old fossil fish are from the Early Eocene. The stone was discovered in our fossil quarry in southwestern Wyoming.
The mural is backed in wood with finished beveled edges. We have added a two-part French cleat for easy hanging. This mural ships in a custom wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage. It arrives ready for immediate installation.
