Quarried from the 18" layer of the Green River Formation, this mural contains a rare 47-1/2" Maillostues janeau. This is thought to be the largest ever found. These Gar are among the rarest fossils found in the formation. We believe that fewer than 20 have ever been recorded. The janeau is a short-nose gar with a short, muscular jaw filled with flat grinding teeth, unlike the more common sharp-toothed long-nose gar. Its long, cylindrical body is covered with thick, shiny, diamond-shaped scales that contour to the dimensions and shape of the body.
Supplied framed in a handmade Wenge wood frame, backed in wood with a two-part French cleat on the back for easy hanging.
We ship this mural in a custom-made wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage.
