This rare fossil mural features an 18" Diplomystus dentatus, consuming another 7-1/4" Diplomystus in a remarkable representation of a predation event known as an "Aspiration", in which both fish ultimately met their demise. The piece stands out as one of the most impressive and detailed aspirations we have seen in a very long time. The fossils date to the early Eocene, 50 million years old. It was found in our private quarry, part of the Green River Formation of Southwestern Wyoming.
The fossil stone is backed in wood with a handmade Wenge wood frame. We have attached an aluminum French cleat to the mural back for easy hanging. Our murals ship in custom-made wood crates, fully insured against loss or damage.
