This fossil mural features a rare 17-1/2" stingray heliobatas radians. Uncommon in the lake-center quarries in the Green River Formation, as the stingray was more of a shoreline dweller. When they are found, they typically exhibit exceptional detail. The mural also contains a cockerellites liops, a Diplomystus dentatus, and a Knightia eocaena. The four fossil fish are arranged in a beautifully flowing composition. Formed during the Early Eocene, these 50-million-year-old fish have rich dark colors that are highlighted by the warm limestone matrix. The preservation and detail found in these fossil fish are exceptional. Collected from the renowned “Steel Blue Lake” layer in our private quarry in southwestern Wyoming.
The mural is finished with a handmade Wenge wood frame and backed with wood, featuring a built-in French cleat. This mural ships in a custom wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage. It arrives ready for immediate installation.
