This fossil Diptych was quarried from our Fossil Lake stone layer. The Fossil Lake stone is a series of fossil bearing layers that are part of the famous 18" layer or F1 layer of the Green River Formation. This layer offers bold rust to gold colors in the stone. The fossils include a 16" and 3" Diplomystus dentatus, a 12" Mioplosus labracoides, and 3- Knightia eocaena in sizes betweek 4" and 6". The age of the fossils is 50 million years old, Early Eocene. The two sections of stone have been backed in wood, with finished beveled edges. We have attached two-part French cleats to the wood backs for easy hanging.

This mural ships in a custom-made wooden crate, fully insured against loss or damage.
