Description: This collector-sized fossil palm flower features a 51″ palm flower specimen as well as the impression left by a fossil palm leaf that was laid over the top of the palm flower 50 million years ago. This stone was quarried from our "Fossil Lake Classic" stone layer and exhibits exquisite detail in the fossil, and warm colors and rich texture in the stone.

This superb fossil palm flower specimen was quarried from the Fossil Lake Classic stone layer in our private fossil quarry. Fine quality fossil plants are quite rare in the Green River Formation. Palm flowers are among the rarest. This palm flower shows exquisite preservation and its long stem is segmented, making it one of the more rare flowers. The visible impression of a separate fossil palm frond (leaf) can be seen laying across the center of the mural, with the stem to the right and the leaves to the left This trace fossil only adds to the rarity of this beautiful find. Its age is approximately 50 million years old and came from the Green River Formation in Southwestern Wyoming.
The mural is supplied backed in wood, with a hand-made Wenge wood frame. An aluminum French cleat has been added to the back for easy hanging. It ships in a custom-made wood crate, fully insured against loss or damage. It arrives ready for immediate installation.
