This irregularly shaped Accent mural features a 29" fossil palm fragment palmacites sp. on a light limestone matrix. The palm was discovered in the "Upper" layers of our quarry. The Upper Layers of our quarry are a series of fossil bearing layers that are separated from the famous 18" layer or F1 layer of the Green River Formation by over 30'. These layers yield some of our more reare finds. The mural also features a small Knightia eocaena.  Plants from the Green River Formation are considered rare. Well preserved palms like the present example are rarer still. The age of the fossils is 50 million years old, Early Eocene. The stone has been backed in wood with finished beveled edges. We have attached a two-part, French cleat to the backs for easy hanging.

This murals ships in a custom-made wooden crate, fully insured against loss or damage.
