This mural contains an extremely rare 13" fossil turtle Plastomenus thomasii, along with a 5" Diplomystus dentatus. The turtle displays exceptional detail, completeness, and preservation quality, making it a truly remarkable specimen. On the lower left of the shell, natural stone fractures have shifted and lifted a portion of the shell and foot away from the main body, yet left them perfectly intact. A rare feature we see in some fossils. It was found in the Green River Formation of Southwestern Wyoming. Its age is 50 million years old.
The fossil stone is backed wood with finished beveled edges. It has a two-part aluminum French cleat on the back for easy hanging. Our murals ship in custom-made wood crates, fully insured against loss or damage.
